I was thinking of this quote after working with clients last month and sent part of this article to my newsletter at the time…

Powerful Beyond MeasureOur deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves…Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

The Journey…

Two years ago, I was challenged by my friend Tom Hobbs, The Man in the Hat, to Shine. I honestly thought that I was with the volunteer work that I was doing on the Planning Commission helping my community that I was doing with professionals through Toastmasters International.

Don’t ask how I made this connection, but I thought…”What better way to SHINE than to do a state pageant.”

Yvonne Bryant - ShineAs I started my Journey as a finalist in the 2013 Mrs. Colorado America Pageant, I learned that I was hiding in plain sight. I learned that we inspire others when we include them on our journeys outside of our comfort zone. We inspire hopes and dreams.

You truly are powerful beyond measure…

  • Think about the areas of your life where people ask you for help…
  • Think about the areas of your life where you feel alive while doing what you do best…
  • I promise you that there are things that you are doing that nobody else can do…
  • You are providing value that only you can provide…

You are powerful beyond measure when you move forward knowing that it won’t be perfect. Two areas that I see business owners and executives struggle is in their leadership and communication because they doubt what they have to offer that isn’t technical. As executives of their businesses and organizations, they fall into the mental trap that there is only one way to do things and that they must copy what their competitors are doing. They fall into the trap of thinking there is only one way to speak about their business to clients and prospects.

Your value is more than your technical ability. Your value includes your stories and the pieces of you that inspires your clients and your employees, your ability to use different communication and leadership styles to accomplish your goals.

  • Think about the businesses and organizations that you like to work with…Think about their websites and how they represent themselves…
  • Think about your competitors and how they represent themselves…Does it inspire or motivate you? Is it just “eh…”?

You truly can be powerful beyond measure in your business. It is okay to know what you want and why you want it. It is okay to want to offer the best service to your clients and get paid for it. It is okay to want to save beautiful old buildings if you are a historic preservationist architect…(You just need to speak to why that is important to the your prospects and clients and not go so much into the state regulations…that is understood and expected of you. Communicate powerfully the WHY, even the unspoken Why… is powerful beyond measure…)

This weekend, take time to reflect upon and write your hopes, your dreams and WHY what you are doing is important to YOU. This is the foundation for the harder work we are about to do together.

You truly are powerful beyond measure. Bring this back into your life and business.
